SIMPONI® (golimumab) is an injectable synthetic (man-made) protein that binds to tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) in the body and blocks the effects of TNFα as a result, the inflammation caused by the following diseases and its consequences are reduced.
It is used in;
Moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis (RA), with the medicine methotrexate (MTX)
Active psoriatic arthritis (PsA), alone or with the medicine MTX
Active ankylosing spondylitis (AS)
Moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis (UC) when certain other UC medicines have not worked well enough or cannot be tolerated
